Money Saving Tip #3

JMiltenburg Morguefile

After saving up your pennies (and other coins) bring them to the bank. Most banks have their own coin sorters and will run your coins your free. Avoid paying the heavy fees associated with the commercialized coin sorts which are usually found in the grocery stores.

Why pay for something you can get for free?

Repurpose Old Picture Frames

Turn Old Picture Frames Into Serving Trays

Turn Old Picture Frames Into Serving Trays

This isn't something I've done yet, but I like the idea and I will probably do it if and when I have unused picture frames. At least if I haven't put new pictures in them already.

Money Saving Tip #2

Find a penny pick it up and all day long you shall have good luck

See a penny let it lay and bad luck you shall this day.

There are a lot of variations on this old rhyme and originally the lucky pennies were the ones which were face up. However in my opinion it doesn't matter what the penny is. It's still good luck.

A penny saved is a penny earned

A popular saying that is still applicable. If you see a penny pick it up, don't throw them away. Yes, it takes 100 pennies to make a dollar, 1000 to make $10 and it seems like a waste of time. It is not. Simply keep an old jar somewhere that you drop those pennies into, you don't even need to look at it, just keep putting them in.

One day in the future you may need those pennies and when you count them up you will realize that there was more there than you thought. Even if you don't need those pennies, think of them as an investment, whenever the jar is full take that money and invest in a savings, account, a bond...whatever you can afford. It's not much, but every penny counts.

Money Saving Tip #1

Lower (or raise) your thermostat at night or when you aren’t home
(depending on the season)

If you are curled up in a warm bed or not even home, then why do you need to run the heat? Every degree dropped can save up to 3% on your heating bill. Just don’t lower it so much that you spend the money reheating your house.

Make Money - Lending Club

Very similar to Prosper.com which I wrote about earlier. I have been a member for about two years and I am making decent money on them. I stopped putting money into this account a year ago and i just keep cycling my money back into it. It works out to average about 8% interest, which is more than I make in the bank and I can pull it out whenever a payment comes in.

Make Money - Prosper.com

I have been a member of Prosper.com for several years now. They do micro loans which are perfect for people that need an edge. They do personal and business loans for everything from debt consolidation to helping a company buy a sign. People borrow thousands of dollars but all you need to invest is $25. Once the loan is finalized you will then receive monthly repayments with interest over the term of the loan.

You get to choose who you want to lend it to. You can keep investing $25 at a time (or more) or you can wait for it to pay off and then reinvest it and the interest. I make more interest doing this than I am on CDs or a savings account and you are helping someone else get out of debt.

I started out in this before the economy collapsed so I have had a few default loans due to bankruptcy, but because I was only investing $25 at a time I didn't lose that much, some of them were mostly paid off. I am averaging about 10% interest on my investment. Personally I feel it is safer than the stock market.

Over the course of years I have deposited less than $1000, but I have turned it around to reinvest and I have invested over $2000.

This is also a great place to go if you need a small loan to pay off credit cards, buy a car, remodel etc... It's a lot less hassle then fighting with a bank.

Make Money - Send Earnings.com

Sendearnings.com is a legitimate site. I signed up in May and since then I have mostly clicked on email links with an occasional survey or search thrown in. I'm lazy and don't put a lot of effort into it, but since May I have made $20 and here is my screenshot to prove it.
Screenshot of my earnings as of December 19,2012

I'm certain that if someone actually put effort into it then they would already have more than that.
